Hannibal crossing the alps

Punic Wars 218 BC:
Hannibal, with his army of mercenaries and Elephants sailed from Northern Africa to Europe. Against all odds, they crossed the impenetrable Alps so he could attack the Rome from behind. When they finally crossed the 4,800 meter mountain range, they defeated the Roman army and put the citizens of Rome into a state of shock and fear. Imagine being a roman soldier coming face to face with these exotic warriors on elephant-back for the first time.

I'm fascinated by the Punic wars and I always wanted to do a illustration of the Hannibal's army crossing the Alps. The idea of these massive African elephants crossing an alpine mountain pass is insane. This is my take take on it.
